I usually put an address label under reel seats
for a security precaution against stupid theives.

I was considering putting some kind of marks on
rods as they caught big flathead. That way if I had
a particular setup that did not produce I could
look at it in winter time and maybe figure out why.

Anyone got an easy solution? Anyone think it
is a goofy idea?

It might be bad luck considering how long we tried to get
a flathead on Mike's Abu 10000 Shocked

Maybe give each setup a number and keep a log of the catches. That way you don't have to mark the rod some way each time it produces.

Two or three wraps of rodbuilding thread and a couple coats of permagloss ought to do it.

You could mark each rod with a small portion of paint, make each rod a different color, I know alot of guys do that with their different trolling rods on erie...Then you could keep a log of each rod by the color of paint...

Scotts
Idea of thread may be the answer. For starters I will take those tie wraps from bread packages and put in the cat bag to identify hot rods. Then during winter I may paint or otherwise mark them.

My main concern is to see if rod type or construction has any effects pertaining to the amount of bites by trophy fish. If I can determine that I may be able to up my percentages.

robby, your percentages are already higher than most fishermen, but you have put in a lot of work to obtain them.
