Hay robbie , I got a question that I hope you can answer or help me answer. I have caught some nice flathead's , But My passion are bruser channels! I see where most folks are goin to a lite wire hook and smaller sizes , Now I have applied this to my channel catfishing , but with linited sucess. What Am I doing wrong? I have picked some locations wher I think hawg channels are , but have yet to match my 11# channel mark. Course , I am gettin better at my average though , it's now , just under 10# per channel. Not too shabby on the mon.
Any Idea how to get that 11# mark? _________________ Proud member Of The Mon River Crew |

You might not be doing anything wrong.
Different watersheds support different fish. Sometimes the waters you fish
do not have channel cats as large as we might hope for.
I know that I went several years to find water that supported substantial numbers of trophy flathead.
Take a look at your fishing hole and do some research to find if it actually has channel cats of the size you desire. You may either have to be satisfied with whatever fish are present or go searching for waters whose habitat supports larger fish. _________________ Catchabiggun,

It doesn't sound like you are doing anything wrong. You are catching fish that are probably in the top 10 percentile of the river you are fishing. The cats you want are probably the top 1 or .5 percentile. If you keep throwing your baits out in the water, you will hook a bigger one. |
