Don Wise and I often caught bluegills for bait. Fishing from separate boats we collected bluegills for each nights fishing. After it became apparent that I was catching the bulk of our bait supply Don commented that He wasn't very good at catching trash fish (his term for anything but a big flathead)
I explained to him that I wasn't lucky or a better bluegill fisherman. I showed him how I selected my bluegill spots. The first night I would fish under limbs overhanging the water with bagworm tents on them.
Before leaving the spot I would tear a small hole in the bag. As the worms wiggled around in their cacoon some of them fell in the water and attracted bluegills who waited on more food to fall. When I returned there where often groups of gills eager to feed.
