Well I can tell ya this much there is Blue Cats in the river below Dillon Lake. Don't know how many made it through the dam and how many stayed in the lake though. Got this little one tonight in the spillway. Didn't weigh it but would say it was right around 10 ounces or so. Looks like it will be a few years yet before they get to be fun. Sent in the information and will let yall know what the award is if I get it.

Jason
I figure part of the reason for the tags was to discover how many blues go through the dam.
What I am really hoping to learn is how many stay in the Licking/Muskingum rivers and spawn.
I hope your reward is being exempt from state taxes for life! _________________ Catchabiggun,

Larry Lange reported catching one of the tagged fish in the Ohio River
Memorial Day weekend. That fish got some mileage! _________________ Catchabiggun,

I just read that myself...That is some serious movement...That just goes to show that there is no reason why there wouldnt have been blues in the muskingum before dillion stocked them...If one can go from Dillion to the ohio, there is no reason why they wouldn't go the opposite direction...and I have argued this point on several occasions _________________ Team Hookset...

Though it's much more difficult to go up a bunch of roll over dams than it is to go down them. |

Even in real high water some of the dams on the Muskingum are still probably around a 15 foot drop. _________________ If It Ain't Got Whiskers, It Must Be Bait. |

What about before the dams were constructed? No reason why bluecats couldnt have gotten as far as the tusc river even from the mississippi, or ohio...I know its far fetched but it could happen. _________________ Team Hookset...

Not to start any fights just sharing my opinion here. It could happen, yes. Is it probable that one travels past a lock or dam, probably not. I have argued this point on multiple occasions when people claim to have caught blue cats from reserviors that have never been stocked with blue cats.
On another note I once read an article that explained that fish can be stocked from water fowl movement. Supposedly when a duck or goose lands in shallow water fish eggs can be picked up via feet or feathers and can be carried to the next body of water. I have even spoke to one individual whom claims that certain fish eggs can pass through the digestion process of various birds and can be transported via excrement. Whether or not there is any truth to that statement I am uncertain. Has anyone else heard/read things similar to this?
Either way the probability seems unlikely. The probablility of catching a blue upstream of a lock or dam would be even less probable. _________________ Sean Stone |

Sean,
I have heard those same theories myself...I dont know how much truth there is behind them but, hell anything is possible! _________________ Team Hookset...
