Anyone with Microsoft Excel can create a custom fishing log to keep track of their fishing.
I use Excel and I am able to compare many variables and how they affect fishing success. I am able to review details I may have forgotten and backtrack weather. I can jam lots of notes and even pictures or links in the cells. I overlay data from one year to another to try and extract patterns that may help me.
Anyone that wants help or suggestions creating a log let me know. _________________ Catchabiggun,

Being an old IT guy I considered making a Template/Script fill in the blanks kind of plug in for office products and fishing logs. There typically is not a demand for this sort of thing. I find that most fishermen would rather not fool with the computer entries. They would rather use a ledger type approach. I also found that most fishermen don't care much for or own office products. I could easily build a database of information with a user friendly front end that could be incorporated on a web page. The problem with this approach is that anyone could make false entries and skew the results. My skills in this particular area are limited but I bet I could still get it done with some friends I have.
What criteria would it need?
Water depth
Temperature
Climate
Moon phase
Bait used
Water temperature at specified depth.
Time of year
AND so on!
You guys create a menu for every specific item you want and list it out and I will try to get it built. |

Dan
The spreadsheet I created was on Excel. Entry columns could
be added or taken away.
I jot down information as I fish and enter it when at home.
I researched weather and moon phase data in Winter to see
if there are any patterns. After several years I removed the
moon phase column.
Even with 15 or more years of data, the input is still quite small
to make determinations. My log serves more to remind me of what
I have tried and the results of many trips. I log info on trips that
produce no fish and those that do. _________________ Catchabiggun,
